Prologue

Millions of years ago, long before the existence of man, there were mighty lizards called dinosaurs. These mighty giants could grow over 100 feet long and up to 50 feet tall. The dinosaurs simply dominated the Earth for over 165 million years. Then for reasons unknown, they went extinct 65 million years ago. Some say a meteor struck the Earth. Others say the Dinosaurs should've evolved warm blood capabilities like everyone else to combat that thing called the Ice Age. Still others say free agency and salary cap issues forced dinosaurs to sell off their best features to the mammals and birds and therefore force themselves to become the Chicago Bulls of eons ago. Still to this day, no one has yet discovered just why these "terrifying lizards" went extinct. More importantly, no one knows what they have to do with this particular legend of Ninja Spirit.

This legend begins on a group of islands created by the gods Izanagi and Izanami. These islands would one day become the nation known as Japan. Izanagi and Izanami also created an entire pantheon of other gods and goddesses which would help shape and change the course of the people who happened to inhabit this island.

The real meat of this legend begins during the Sengoku era (circa 16th C.). It marked one of the most conflict filled periods in the country's history. A century of bloody warfare swept over the countryside and most everyone was forced to participate in way or another lest they be called a weak Frenchman. It was during this time that the ninja appeared. 

The ninja was a mythical warrior of stealth who could enter any place undetected and strike when least expected. They practiced everything from espionage, warfare, toxicology, and magic. They could be anything and everything. You couldn't stop a ninja, you could only hope to contain them.

Late in the 16th Century, the general Oda Nobunaga commanded a legion into the Iga Province to finally prove that he would not only contain, but he would stop the ninja. The ninja clans, who were ill equipped to do anything besides a few tricks and stab a few people in the back, were overwhelmed by direct confrontation. Before complete annihilation, the Kawasaki Clan was entrusted with the magical weapons of the Iga Ninjas and ordered to keep them safe. The Kawasaki set sail away from their ancestral homeland and were never heard from again.

In the dawn of the 21st century, the people inhabiting the city of Kawasaki, USA are blissfully unaware that they are living upon the land which the Kawasaki Clan arrived upon hundreds of years ago. They are also blissfully unaware that an ancient evil has returned to this world in hopes of wiping them and the pretty much everyone else off the face of the earth forever. By amazing coincidence they are also blissfully unaware that millions of years ago packs of vicious Velociraptors hunted and ate their mammalian relatives.

Misaki Yuki is one of the blissfully unaware as he blissfully begins his unaware Sophomore year at Kawasaki High. Yuki becomes unblissfully aware of the impending threat of the imminent extinction of mankind when a Kitsune spirit fox named Tenko visits him late one September night. Little does Yuki know that he and his friends have embarked on the final chapter of the legend of Ninja Spirit...
