"Ninja Spirit will return next week." Friday August 21st 2008

I had meant to do this last week, but I forgot so here it is this week. Like last year, I ended up having a few extra Otakon prints left after the con and I figure I might as well give them out to you NS fans. So here is the contest...

Ninja Spirit Haiku Contest

Submit one haiku poem to river@ninja-spirit.com . The deadline to enter the contest will be two weeks from now on September 5th, 2008. The rules are simple...

1. The entry must conform to the 5-7-5 Haiku standard.
2. Must be about Ninja Spirit.

That's about it. All entries will be judged anonymously without the author being known. Scoring will be given on the main site once the contest is over. All entries will be listed on the Bonus Section of the NS site. The winner will receive two autographed Otakon 2008 prints and the runner up will win one print.

...

So like I mentioned last week, here is some filler for this week. I spent the beginning of the week up in Albany visiting my friend Tom who was stateside for a few weeks before he goes back across the pond to England in a week or so. I managed to get this drawn and colored for the filler after my initial idea was kind of too ambitious for filler material. The initial idea was to do some Caramell Dansen NS style, but for the amount of effort needed I might as well have been doing a comic or two. I don't know why I felt like drawing Julienne for the filler art, but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Seeing as it was filler art, I decided to just try something different for Jules' outfit and hair. Though the sleeveless hoodie probably is not befitting attire for the J God of Evil, I might end up keeping her hair style for the new chapter. Though as you might have noticed from the end of the last chapter, the helmet she wears makes her hair kind of a moot point besides her front bangs.

As for my adventure up to Albany, it was definitely a fun trip. I hadn't seen Tom since December of last year. Plus it was cool to do a Tahou trip with just the two of us. I don't doubt there are people who like Tahou's as much as us, but at least for us, the trip and meal is a whole package and even when we did it back in college, it was an adventure every time. So it was nice to have my partner back for the tahou trip on Monday. I actually got up to Albany on Sunday and Tom had a bunch of people over for some bbq, a huge bonfire, and some fireworks. We hit the road early on Monday and stopped in Syracuse to say hi to Rob who was sadly in the middle of preparing for the onslaught of incoming SU students. Sucker. Tahou's was awesome as usual and the plate itself was about a 8.5. The fries were fresh, but the burgers weren't. Still they were fully loaded plates in to-go containers (which always contain more than the usual eat-in paper plate). We did the Wegmans run afterwards and then got back on the road and reached Albany at around midnight. We played Winning Eleven to finish off the night. Though it had been a year since we played, we were actually pretty good off the bat. I got back to Long Island later on Tuesday and that was that. A fun trip and good times.

I think that is about it for now. The comic will return with a vengeance next week as we see if Dave can figure out a way in which he can defeat the mighty Dawson Van Brocklin. I hope you all have a nice weekend and I hope you all partake in the NS Haiku Contest!!
