"Color of the Heart" Thursday July 24th 2008

This was somewhat tough to get down. I originally had Sydney explaining what happened in the next comic, but I figured the readers would want to know exactly how the last panel came to be. So basically Tom was able to attack Sydney while guarding Dave from her attack. However in addition to Sydney's attack, he was also nailed flush with Dave's awesome new power. The result is as devastating as you can see in the last panel. It also took me some time to get the blood splotching that results from being hit with Tom's Resshin Ken. It was a while ago when I did it last when Tom used the power on Kentan. I think I managed to get it right.

If you are wondering just what Sydney's Queen of Diamonds does it's basically a sub sonic attack of razor hair that basically pierces vital points on an enemy's body. The Ace of Diamonds is faster and deadlier since it's faster and aims for the heart. However what the Queen of Diamonds makes up in the loss of speed is a huge boost in damage. It may not kill you right from the get go, but it will eventually from the internal damage.

I think that's all I have in mind for this week's comic...

Last Sunday I ended up going into the City to meet up with Dave. He had been looking to buy one of the new Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 bundles and hadn't been able to find one. It turned out that the Best Buy near me had a few and I ended up getting one for him. However it wasn't all about the PS3 as we hit the Met with his friend Mike. They had a somewhat cool Superhero fashion temporary exhibit that was interesting. After the museum, we got separated from Mike who was on his way home. Dave and I ended up eating dinner at a Japanese yakiniku place down near St. Marks Street. It was fricking awesome. I highly recommend Yakiniku if you can find a Yakiniku place near you. If not then you might have more luck with a Korean BBQ. The flavor will be slightly different, but it's a similar experience and truthfully I like eating at both types of places equally the same.

I also got the first two UVERworld albums, "timeless" and "BUGRIGHT". They are fricking awesome. I drew this week's comic listening to both albums and I felt very pumped up because of it. So this is another recommendation for those of you looking for new music.

Alright I need to get to bed. I will be posting some Otakon information up here next week. So if you want to meet and get some free NS swag be sure to check back here for that info. I should also be seeing Dark Knight either this weekend or during next week some time. So I'll post my thoughts about that movie as well. I hope you all have a great weekend and be sure to check out UVERworld!
