"The Exit" Thursday
May 8th 2008
This is kind of a continuation of last week's rewrite part in the
script. Like I mentioned I had originally meant for Yuki and Joe to
start fighting when Joe showed up in the last comic. However Joe has now
fled the scene and I used the moment to build up more of Key's
character. I think that guys do tend to sometimes place girls on a
pedestal whether it be because they like them or because they are good
friends with them. It might happen vice versa, but alas I am not a chick
and so I can't tell you if that is the case. I think Key being who she
is feels pressure to respond to those feelings of trying to live up to
people's expectations. I don't necessarily think that is a good thing,
but to be fair, Key is still in high school and I havent seen the inside
of a high school for many years. Experience is a wonderful thing.
Anyways the focus will be shifting from the Key-Yuki dynamic to the
Yuki-Joe dynamic next week. If you think I wouldn't use a perfectly well
written action sequence then well... you'll just have to wait till next
week to find out.
The Battle of Spirit is nearing it's end and after today's battle
there will be the other semi-final on Monday and the Final will be held
on Tuesday. With 7 points still available to the contest entrants for
the Battle of Spirit Contest it's still anyone's game. I have to say I'm
pleasantly surprised by the results so far. I guess you guys really like
Mikail and I'm sure the real Izumi would be happy to know her character
had enough support to almost make it into the Final Four. I just want
you all to know that even though this is a fun popularity contest I keep
the results in mind as I make modifications to the NS script.
The only other thing I wanted to mention was that I am currently
enamored with the band A Kiss
Could Be Deadly. It's a heavy synth-guitar driven band that feels
almost like a modern rock version of the New Wave sound. I just got
their new CD this week and it's one that I can listen to from start to
finish right from the get go. I highly recommend them and suggest you
take a Youtube search of them to get a sample of their sound.
In Giants news, it's been a nightmare week for them as they've lost
pretty much every game this week including a series to the lowly
Pirates. The worst is that they lost a couple of one run games and those
are games they need to win. Barry Zito was back in the rotation this
week and he actually pitched pretty decently. If they can get an outing
like this from him every time, I'll at least be somewhat appeased.
I think that's about it for now. The World Ends With You is calling
to me with it's siren voice. I hope you all have a great weekend and I
will see you back here in the beginning of next week for the finale of
the Battle of Spirit IV and later on in the week for the comic proper.
