"Kimen isn't messing around" Thursday December 20th, 2007

Well I'm happy to be able to have a comic up this week. I still haven't been feeling 100%... probably close to around 90%. I just don't have an appetite still. It's kind of annoying because I will eat because my stomach is empty, but nothing ever tastes too good.

Enough about that though... as you can see the Kimen VS Yuki fight has started and Kimen is already bringing the heat right out of the gate. If it wasn't clear in the comic, Kimen's Garandou Ito is a blindingly fast attack that it appears Yuki can't even react to much less attempt to dodge. Plus as Yuki said in this comic, he's still unable to use the Mangetsu level of his Hyourinken because it's still cooling down after being fixed by Masamune. It's definitely a tough situation and we'll have to see if Yuki can overcome his handicap to defeat this powerful foe.

Since I've been sick, I've had a bunch of extra time on my hand and I've spent it pretty much reading manga. Since last Friday I have read a total of 9 different manga. I've been on a romance comedy kick recently and I've been plowing through a couple of those titles. My favorite in the bunch had to be Ichigo 100% and I can't even begin to say how much I loved it. There's definitely plenty of teen rated fan service, but the story was just fricking amazing. I think one of the biggest peeves I have about romance comedies is that you usually know who the main character will end up with by the end of the first chapter. I can honestly say that I couldn't tell till the end just who the main character of Ichigo 100% would end up with. In fact I was so thrown off by what happened, I had to read most of it twice over. I highly recommend Ichigo 100% for anyone looking for a great romance comedy manga. It's more of a realistic story and the comedy isn't drop dead funny, but the story alone pushes this in my top ten maybe even top 5 manga of all time.

I also highly recommend these titles...

Mx0.... it's a action/comedy title about a high school kid who manages to enter a Magic School using roundabout methods. As a result everyone thinks he's a great magic user and he has to continue tricking people of his ability or get kicked out of school. To top it all off, he has no magic ability whatsoever. The setting and idea for this manga was brilliant. Think Harry Potter, but with a lot more fun. This is probably my second favorite manga title that I read out of the 9 that I went through. So if a comedy romance isn't what you're looking for, check this great series out. (Ongoing Series)

Pretty Face....Amazingly enough, this was created by the same manga-ka behind Mx0. It was actually created before Mx0 and you'll have to bear with me when I go into a plot synopsis since it's a only-in-Japan can they think of crap like this story. The main character ends up getting into a bus accident that disfigures him. A doctor manages to reconstruct his face, but he uses a picture of the main character's crush to do so. The main character then ends up being confused as his crush's twin sister and the usual crazy antics go on from there. I didn't think I would like this one since the story just seemed so... freaky, but I have to say I really enjoyed every bit of it. (Finished Series)

To Love-Ru... This is pretty much the standard comedy romance manga. The main character ends up becoming betrothed to an alien princess and then has to face her many potential suitors who are none to happy about the situation. It's been done before, but the art is enjoyable and I like the story so far even if this is one of those manga where we can pretty much guess who the main character ends up with. (Ongoing Series)

Hatsukoi Limited... Created by the manga-ka behind Ichigo 100%. It just started recently I think and all I can tell you is the cast of characters for this manga is HUGE! Almost every chapter so far goes into a different character in the story. The stories intertwine somewhat as you'll see scenes from a previous chapter in a new one, but from a new character's viewpoint. It's a tremendously ambitious undertaking and if I hadn't fallen in love with Ichigo, I wouldn't be too keen on it. However I know that everything will eventually tie together wonderfully and I'm going to enjoy the journey there. (Ongoing Series)

Alright that's about it for that. As I said in my Key Pop Art filler rant, there won't be a comic next week because of the holidays, but I should have a holiday filler up for you. So in case I don't have it before Christmas, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy holidays! Thanks as always for taking the time to come here and read this rather simple web comic I've created. It's thanks to you all that I've been able to keep going for 4 and a half years. I know it'll take about two years till I can finish this story, but I hope you stick around till then. I hope you and your loved ones all have a safe and fun holiday and I will see you early or late next week with some filler!!
