"Sick Sick Sick... or How I Learned Not To Eat NYC Hotdogs" Monday December 17th, 2007

Holy crap I haven't been sick like that in awhile. I was pretty much out of commission since Monday morning until about Thursday night. I'm actually still about only 90% right now, but I figured I needed to get SOMETHING up so I'm not abandoning the readers. Anyway I'll get to more about the details of my hellish week and my adventures at the NY Anime Fest a bit later and talk about the filler right now.

I don't know why I tried to do a pop art piece. All I know is that I'm not a very super artistic person when it comes to things like that. Anyway I tried and hopefully it doesn't look god awful. I'd talk more about the picture of Key, but it's kinda spoilerish. All I will say is that you won't ever see the rest of the comic this image was pulled from unless I include it in an extra for when I finally put NS into print form. You can probably see some experimental line work in Key's hair. I would do the comic like that all the time, but it adds ALOT of time to doing the line art compared to how I normally do it. Anyway I hope you enjoy even if it isn't a comic!

Now let me talk about the NY Anime Fest. I ended up going last Saturday with Dave, Mike, and Hoi. It definitely wasn't Otakon, but it wasn't bad either. It definitely could use some work, but again it was the first time it was being held and hopefully they can work on the feel of it if they continue holding it every year. The good... the dealer room was fairly big and had a good variety of stuff.  The bad... everything pretty much goes downhill after that. I mean the dealer room was pretty much the main draw to the place. I think if any improvement could have been made it would have been to include a video game room and separate artist alley room. As it was the artists were kind thrown along one wall of the dealer room.

Anyway i still had a fun time even if I didn't get too much stuff. I chatted again with Jennifer Brazas from Mystic Revolution who I had met at Otakon and it was a ton of fun. I managed to grab a copy of the Flipside book created by Brion Foulke. It was a pretty good read and I recommend heading over to his site to read the comic. I also checked out the guys at the Udon booth and they are as amazing as always. I'm sure you've seen the amazing stuff they've done for the Capcom fighting series'.

After we did our rounds at the Anime Fest we headed to Max Brenner's for dinner and man was it fricking delicious. I mean I had gone there for desserts last time I was in the city with Dave so we ended up back there for dinner and dinner was AMAZING too. I can't recommend this place enough. Go. Eat. Live.

I should mention that I ate two hotdogs as soon as I got into the city and it was probably due to those dogs that I suddenly came down with a 101 degree fever around 6 AM last Monday. I was pretty much fever sick for the next two days. The fever broke about Tuesday night. I actually thought I had the flu, but then came the stomach pains and not being able to keep down anything. A doctor trip on thursday pretty much confirmed the food poisoning and even the doctor was inclined to think it was the hot dog. Anyway I didn't eat solid food till about Friday night and I wasn't really up to sitting up at the computer till about Saturday. It was horrible to tell you the truth and I probably won't be eating NYC stand hotdogs for a while now.

Anyway I think that should be it. I'm trying to have a comic up for Friday, but there will be holiday filler next week. The comic will then resume as normal the week after that or I can say next year since that's when it'll be. Well I will talk to you cats later on this week. Peace!
