"Catching up" Thursday April 5th, 2007

I am a bit more coherent for today's post so I'll go into a few things that I couldn't get to in Monday's comic. First off we are clearly back in Japan and not only has Yuki survived Sydney's deadly Ace of Spades, but now you know how he managed to do it. Never let is be said that Izumi was never a true ninja and even in her dying moments she gave Yuki the key in his own survival. I miss her character already, but I think she is still here in spirit. Despite surviving the Ace of Spades, Yuki still faces an uphill climb without his Hyourinken. Can he manage to pull another one out of his ass to survive his psycho ex girlfriend?

To note, I really liked the cute/evil giggle Sydney gives in P8. On any other character that would be one hell of a cute look. I think by having Syd do it, it furthers who psychotic demeanor.

In other news, the 2007 baseball season has finally started. I wish it could have started off better, but the Giants finally got their first win of the season last night and avoided being swept by the f'ing Padres. I popped open a glass bottle of coke to celebrate the moment. Let me tell you even though they had a 5 to 1 lead in the ninth, I genuinely thought Armando Benitez was going to blow the save when he came in. He let up 2 runs, which were credited to poor Steve Kline, but escaped with a save. This guy is going to end up killing the Giants in enough games where it will kill their playoff chances. I'm hoping he either returns to form or breaks his body, it doesn't matter where, and the Giants get a reliable closer.

I did purchase the mlbtv package that allows me to watch MLB games over the internet and so far I love it. I don't have a tv in my room. So thanks to the MLBtv thing I got to watch 2 Giants games and the Boston game earlier today to see Daisuke Matsuzaka blow away the Royals. I hope Matsuzaka does really well. My whole family is in love with him. Of course it helps that he has the same name as my younger brother and that they even kind of look alike.

But enough about baseball. I think the only one who reads my comic who will relate is Stratusfox and she's happy now after her DBacks climbed back to .500 tonight. Fricking D'Backs. I also wanted to mention that despite the title of today's comic I am somewhat ambivalent over Avril Lavigne's new single. I don't care what anyone thinks, but I enjoyed both Let Go and Under My Skin and thought both were really good albums. Not all webcomic artists can be cool and be all indie :p. Back to the single, I think the song is okay, but it just seems to be a step backward in terms of her song maturity. Maybe that's just me though. I'll hold off final judgment until I hear the entire Best Damn Thing album. I also listened to the new LP single and I did not care for that at all. It's okay, but just not as strong as their previous singles.

I still haven't seen TMNT or fricking 300 yet. Hopefully I will get a chance to check one of them out this weekend. That's about it for now. Enjoy your weekend and I will see you on Monday/Tuesday.

River is confused by Girlfriend.
