"Do you like that?" Thursday March 8th, 2007

C'mon you didn't expect Tom to go down that easy did you? The concept of Spirit Overdrive has been brought up before when Julienne used it and when Kelly discovered Tom using it during a football game. Basically I think I've established that Spirit is not so much an energy, but life itself. When ninjas use their spirit they are tapping into their life force and using it to amplify their attacks and abilities. You are not so much expending life as you are using the life energy itself. When you run out of spirit, you simply run out of available life force to be used at that given time. Spirit Overdrive doesn't just using life, you are actively shortening your life span by burning your life energy to gain an exceptional spirit boost. Well who did Tom promise that he would not use Spirit Overdrive anymore? You should know the drill by now. I'll answer the simple questions, but those tricky ones I'll leave for you to speculate.

I hope everyone is getting the feel of this fight. It's supposed to flow a certain way. I want there to be an escalation in power and recklessness. I want these two guys to really go over what we've seen before as they step past reasonable bounds. Will this be the end? Only Monday's comic will tell...

On Monday, I tried something that the fantastic Fathobbit had posted on her DA journal and it seems that everyone on the NS forum thought it was a great idea and it spawned a very successful thread. I figure let's try this again with another "game" FH had posted and see if everyone can have as much fun with this one.

Name 10 bands you are really into:
((in no particular order))

01. Smashing Pumpkins
02. Oasis
03. Garbage
04. Ellegarden
05. Matchbox Twenty
06. New Found Glory
07. The Monkees
08. Everclear
09. Glay
10. Breaking Benjamin

Now answer the questions according to the numbers...

What was the first song you ever heard by 4?
"Space Sonic" by Ellegarden
I heard it on a Japanese J Pop Internet radio station and thinking what's an American Pop Punk band doing on this station? Then I looked up who they were and I've been hooked on Ellegarden ever since. Although I refuse to pronounce their name like it's meant "EL-LAY Garden". I use the proper french of "L-Garden".

What is your favorite album of 8?
So Much For the Afterglow by Everclear
This is such an amazing album. I listened to it non stop and every time I listened to it I found a new favorite song.

What is your favorite lyric that 5 has sung?
"If You've never heard that silence, it's a god awful sound." - "Cody" Matchbox Twenty
There are a bunch of great MB20 lyrics. While I don't completely relate to this lyric, I thought it was a very clever line.

How many times have you seen 7 live?
Seen the Monkees all of zero times...
Though there's still time for a full reunion tour guys!! I would so go to see the full lineup play together. Mike Nesmith was my favorite Monkee.

What is your favorite song of 10?
Diary of Jane by Breaking Benjamin
It was tough since I love Polyamorous, but Diary won out. In fact it's where the title of today's comic came from.

What is a good memory you have concerning the music of 6?
Listening to the self titled album by New Found Glory and having it mean more after having broke up with my psycho ex.

Is there a song of 1 that makes you sad?
A lot of Pumpkins songs will make me sad. Muzzle in particular.
Most of them do nowadays since it's hard to go back to that time with that music.

What is your favorite song by 9?
Haru o Aisuru Hito
This is the second Glay song I heard after Kuchibiru and kickstarted my love for J Rock back into high gear. If you ever wanted to get into Glay this and Kuchibiru are the two songs you need to get first.

How did you get in to 3?
Heard Garbage on the radio back when they played good songs on the radio and saw them on MTV back when MTV used to play videos all day. Shirley Manson is the uber awesome.

What was the first song you've heard by 1?
"I Am One" - Smashing Pumpkins
Someone from my high school years let me listen to this and I actually didn't care for it much. I didn't really get the Pumpkins till I started appreciating music again around my senior year.

What is your favorite song by 4?
"Jitterbug" - Ellegarden
This is the unofficial opening theme song for Ninja Spirit. Look up the Ellegarden video on Youtube to listen to it.

What is a good memory you have concerning 5?
Seeing MB20 in concert with my brother at Six Flags Darien Lake. It was a fantastic concert that had Seven Mary Three and Train open. The park always has a fireworks show and it just so happened when MB20 just started "When You're Gone" and Rob Thomas looked at the fireworks and then at the crowd with this smile and expression that said "hey, will you look at that? What awesome timing." It was an awesome day because it had been awhile since I got to hang out with my brother with just the two of us, I was getting over my psycho ex (who had the nerve to demand I still take her to this concert despite the fact she had cheated on me), and I love going to amusement parks.

Is there a song of 8 that makes you sad?
Not really. Everclear songs usually make me feel upbeat. Nothing picks up a frat party like having a whole room of drunken college kids sing along... err attempt to sing along to "Santa Monica".

What is your favorite song of 6?
"Dressed to Kill"
Again I love a bunch of NFG songs, but this was one of the first NFG songs I heard and it got me to buy the album. I always loved this video as well.

How many times have you seen 8 live?
1
Oddly enough, the Black Eyes peas sans Fergie opened for Everclear. It was an okay concert since I didn't get to be up close, but it was held at my college campus so it was a crazy atmosphere.

What is your favorite album of 7?
"Headquarters"
I love the first 4 albums, but this is easily my favorite out of the four. It's not as polished as the others since the Monkees actually played all the instruments on the album, but it just sounded really pure.

What's your favorite song by 2?
"Live Forever"
Again I could have also gone with Masterplan or What's the Story? or She's Electric, but if I had to choose one at gun point it would be Live Forever since that opening drum beat will ALWAYS hook me.
