"Congrats to my brother" Thursday - December 21st, 2006

Before I went into anything about the comic I wanted to say announce that my brother has graduated with a MBA from Hofstra university! I feel very happy for him and I know how hard he had to work to get this degree. I went to his graduation ceremony tonight and it was actually pretty nice. Since it was only for people graduating in the winter it was smaller so it didn't take forever and a day. The commencement speaker was NY senator Chuck Schumer and I have to say he was a very entertaining speaker. he told a story about how after he graduated he got offered a scholarship to work all around the world with all travel expenses paid. He had to choose between that and the girl and though it was tempting he stuck with love and stayed home with the girl. She ended up dumping him and went on to law school and then to public office and turned out okay. Now he then got to a part of his speech when he addresses the crowd and says something along the effect of "Now when you guys are faced with the similar situation...", even though we weren't near each other both my brother and I just assumed he was going to say "don't pick the girl." Instead he said to follow your dreams blah blah blah.... I think in his heart he wanted to say "don't pick the girl" because as we all know... girls are teh evil.

Anyway I just wanted to say congrats to him on a job well done. He already has a sweet job lined up in the city starting in February. I'm happy for him and a bit proud as they say.

So enough about my brother and the fact that he graduated from Graduate school with a 3.6 GPA... Heh... I suppose you really want to hear about the comic. Let's just say I had a lot of fun drawing this one. I coulda had it out on time for once yesterday, but I decided to take a little more time with it because I liked drawing it. So as you can see Sydney has obviously been given some of Amatsu Mikaboshi's blood and apparently her body seems to have taken a liking to it. Is that a good thing? Well probably not for Izumi.

Well I hope you've been enjoying Chapter 5 so far. I think it's been a lot of fun. I'll see you back here Monday with the annual NS Christmas filler and I'll let you know if they'll be a comic on Thursday then. However, if you are going to be out and about with those people you call family and friends and won't be on your computer, have yourself a happy holidays and I wish you all an F-ton of well wishes. And since I've been watching the House MD Pilot over and over in the last few days, I'm going to borrow a quote from Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Or Dr T. Kelly)  to remind you all that during this time of giving and receiving gifts...

"Oh, I looked into that philosopher you quoted, Jagger, and you’re right, “You can’t always get what you want,” but as it turns out “if you try sometimes you get what you need.”

River's bro has graduated.
