"Fun Weekend" Monday - December 11th, 2006

Well after a fun weekend I am back on Long Island. here is a little filler project for you. I had originally intended to simply post the first sketch, but then things ramped up from there. I had never tried to tone any of my art before. I used some patterns and did it in PS. I think it came out okay. I would never go that way though simply because I think one of the good things about Ninja Spirit is that it has and will always be in full color. Feel free to copy and color in the line art if you feel inclined to do such things. It's really the only reason why I threw it up there. Sometimes I get requests for uncolored lineart so here you go.

This past weekend was a ton of fun. I took the LIRR out to Penn Station in NYC and met up with Dave and then we both hit GCT to get a train up to Poughkeepsie. Tom picked us up there and after a lunch of pizza we headed up to Albany. In Albany we visited ummm... the Albany museum? I forget what it's called, but if you are familiar with the Museum of Natural Science and History in NYC, this museum was like that. I had originally thought it was going to be small and we were going to go through it in half an hour, but this place as huge. We ended up staying for a couple of hours and didn't get to see everything. Afterwards we went to Tom's. After a great chili dinner courtesy of Tom's folks, we watched some TV and played some trivial pursuit. Unfortunately the team of Dave and yours truly did not win (we came in second). After that we played a heck ton of Winning Eleven and then hit the hay.

The next day we drove out to Syracuse and met up with The Kelly and Rob. After playing a game of Apples to Apples (I tied for first), we headed out to Nick Tahou's. It was a fun drive and Tahou's was as amazing as ever. I wish I had a plate even as I'm typing this now. Those of you lucky enough to have had a garbage plate will also feel the craving just reading about it... We did the usual Wegmans run and then drove back to Syracuse. Rob brought over Guitar Hero 2 and we rocked some hardcore tunes. Dave thought he was super cool playing on hard while the rest of us played it safe on Medium. It was a load of fun and last I heard The Kelly's hand is broken and in traction from the amount of riffs she put in. In her defense I think she played Freebird like three times.

So on Sunday we ate brunch at Cracker Barrel and no it's not nor will ever be as good as Tahou's, but it's still a good meal. After that we headed right back to Poughkeepsie and took the train back down to NYC. Dave and I parted ways in Penn Station and I got on the LIRR to head home at about 11 PM. I was supposed to get off and transfer to another line, but was told to get on the wrong train by a fellow passenger. I should've double checked, but I didn't. So the conductor walks through and is like 'you're on the wrong train... get off two stops from now and a westbound train will take you back to the Jamaica station and from there you can get the correct train'. So I do as the conductor says and I'm sitting there waiting in this empty ass train station with like no one in sight. It's actually kinda unnerving to be in an empty train station in the middle of Queens at 12 in the morning. So I'm sitting there waiting for the westbound train and after 20 minutes I'm still waiting. WTF.

SO finally a train comes and I hop on. The conductor comes through and I explain what happens and he's like yeah just stay on this train and when we get to the end of the line transfer to another train and head back to Jamaica. So I do that and who should be the conductor on my return trip, but the asshole who told me to get off in the middle of nowhere with no train to pick me up. He's like what are you doing here and I explain how no train came and he's like...' oh... that's right I'm thinking of the weekday schedule'. If I wasn't exhausted I would've throttled this moron.

I finally got back to Jamaica, hopped on the right train and finally walked into my house a little after 2 AM. A little over one hour train ride turned into the three house train ride from hell. So then I ate dinner and went to sleep only to wake up first thing to go to work at the restaurant and as soon as I got home I had to drive my brother out to Hofstra so he could get to school. I didn't walk back into the house till 11 PM, after which I ate and then worked on what you see above.

Anyway seeing as I have work again tomorrow I'll hit the hay now. Enjoy the filler and I will see you on Thursday with a new comic!!

River took a long detour.
