"Happy Halloween!" Sunday - October 29th, 2006

I know it's a day early, but seeing as I won't have an update up tomorrow, this will serve as my Halloween post. I hope you all enjoy the holidays and kudos to all of your who celebrated early this weekend. In case you didn't stop by since Friday, I wanted to inform you that Rob has been nice enough to design a Ninja Spirit Jack o Lantern design. So if you haven't carved your pumpkins yet, this might be something for you!! Just click on the thumbnail below for the full sized image you can print out and tape on any pumpkin.

As for the comic, I thought it came out pretty good. A lot of times I try and stay out of the really esoteric stuff, but the "Mushin no Shin", is something I think is very profound. I mean something like that could not only pertain to martial arts and combat, but could also apply to any time you need to think clearly about your problems. It's an interesting Zen Buddhist belief.

However as it pertains to the comic, Izumi is basically asking Yuki to do something that is considered impossible in real life. It's considered to take years to be able to attune ones mind to this state via mediation or training. In theory if one can move and fight in such a state of mind while going at the speed Yuki is capable of, this would transcend event he speed of thought. Seeing as this is a comic, we'll see if Yuki can make the impossible, possible yet again.

Anyway I just wanted to let you know we'll head back tot he present again on Thursday and while the first half of the comic will still be in Japan, you can expect to see the beginnings of what is going on back in that California city known as Kawasaki!

River says Happy Halloween!!
