"Getting short" Thursday - July 6th, 2006

I hope everyone celebrating the 4th of July had a great one. I actually didn't even watch any fireworks this year and it's kinda weird seeing as I might not be in the country to celebrate the 4th next year. Ah well... actually I think that was the day my tooth broke and I was pretty much miserable all night worrying about it. I went to the dentist yesterday and turns out I need to get 4 teeth pulled. So that'll happen in two weeks. Needless to say there might not be a comic that week...

On a side note I did go out to see the Baseball hall of Fame in Cooperstown on the 3rd and I enjoyed it. Some notes from my trip...

1. Cooperstown is in the middle of Nofrickingwhere, NY. I mean you'd think they would at least have signs leading you to Cooperstown or the Hall of Fame... Let me just say this... there wasn't even a sign in Cooperstown to show me where the HoF was.

2. For a baseball fan, which I will readily admit I'm becoming more enamored with the sport as I get older, it's a truly magical place. I remember standing in the hall with all the inductee plaques and getting shivers. I had someone take my picture next to Willie Mays plaque, but it didn't come out. I took one of just the plaque anyway.

3. The WBC exhibit still managed to bring a tear to the eye. They had Matsuzaka's jersey and a huge poster of him as well as Ichiro's bat and Oh san's cleats. It sent chills to see a Japanese newspaper hanging in the display proudly announcing that Japan had become the champions of the baseball world.

4. I finally broke down and bought a Giants fitted cap while I was there just so I could have a nice souvenir to remind me of my visit. I've been loathe to buy a fitted hat since my last one disappeared under dubious circumstances. If you must know I got knocked silly playing hockey down in the school yard and had to be carted off to the hospital. Needless to say my hat didn't come with me and if I EVER find out who stole my goddamn hat, they will pay and pay dearly...

So why don't I actually shut up and talk about the comic... Again I will say I'm sorry about the lateness of the comic and at this point of things I'm happy to have Thursday comics just up on Thursday. However this is up at about 1 AM on Friday so I'm very sorry.

But really enough of that as well I'm happy to talk about today's comic. It's been a while since I was able to do more character drama driven storyline and it's a welcome reprieve from the asskicking that has been going down recently. So first I wanted to touch in on the whole Tom-Julienne-Dave triangle and as you can see Jules seems to be avoiding Tom and actually seeing Dave. Does this mean she's made her choice? I'll leave that to you all to ponder till we get more into it in the next chapter. From there we go and head into the wrap up of Key's confession of love to Yuki. The stage is set and it looks like Yuki is more than willing to share his feelings on how he feels about Key and Kelly at this point. Did I mean to make Joe that scary in the last panel? Of course, if you go back trough the archives, this is just typical Joe when it comes to this subject. Hmmm...

Oh and just to clarify, Dave is once again just ribbing on Tom in the 5th panel and isn't really telling he hates him... Right?

River's teeth are in a bad state of affairs.
