"Happy New Year" Sunday - January 1st, 2006 Well here are with a brand new year!! The comic is back with it's very first 2006 installment. I figured before I get into today's comic I needed to mention some stuff about the last one. I had meant to make a bigger post about it, but I just ran out of time. It does a couple of things which I'll point out. I usually don't do that and leave it to you to pick up on the subtleties of the comic, but I figure I owe it to you. The first thing you get from the comic is the resolution of what happened between Key and Yuki when Key finally confessed her feelings. You may think that Yuki not saying anything is a total cop out on my part as a writer. What I say in defense is that it's something I most certainly did to the person who is the basis for Key Lime. I'm not proud of it at all and it's one of those things that I'll always regret doing. Not regret because I wish things turned out differently, but because I totally screwed over a person's feelings cause I didn't have the guts to say what was in my heart. I'm not saying that's why Yuki didn't say anything, but I think you might be able to figure out if it had something to do with it. So what's going to happen to Key? You'll have to wait and find out. The second thing that was in the comic was that in the very first panel it seems as if Julienne could pick between Tom and Dave. She was about to mention which she would've picked if she had to, but she conveniently ran into Key right before she said the name. take from that what you will. One thing I hope you either consciously or subconsciously picked up on was that Julienne's ability to empathize with people. I've mentioned it before so I won't continue to pound it into your heads, but I just wanted to say that I'm trying to be consistent with my characterizations. This will be important to keep in mind for these next two comics. All of this brings us to the first NS comic of 2006. Do you think Tom would've told Kentan to go to hell if Kentan demanded the Yata Kagamina like that? Yeah me too. Julienne is such a complicated girl. I almost had Julienne going into the whole "You'll take this Yata Kagamina from my dead hands" speech, but then I realized something. She coulda said something classy and inspirational, but that just wouldn't be her style. (The last sentence was a Replacements reference for those of you who didn't see it coming.) It would appear though that Julienne understands that discretion is the better part of valor. At any rate I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. I shall leave you with these words from the immortal Shane Falco. Pain Heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory.... lasts forever.
