"The Contender" Wednesday - March 23rd, 2005

This was one of those comics that started out pretty bad, but by the end I totally bought into whatever I was doing and I ended up being happy with the finished product... for the most part. I mean P4 is still a horrendous panel by any stretch of the imagination, but they all can't be winners I tell myself. The rest of the panels turned out pretty spiffy though.

As a quick aside I wanted to mention that I love The Contender. The show totally kicks ass. I thought it was going to totally suck donkey balls when I first saw the commercials for it, but as I thought about it I guess I sorta realized that it actually might be a good show. Unlike other reality shows, these boxers who compete in the show are actually competing in real boxing matches that count in their world standings and rankings. It has just about the right amount of drama, comedic moments, and competition to make it work. I mean even The Kelly likes it and she abhors most things associated with sports. Next to 24, this might be the show that you end up dying to see week in and week out.

Hey, the Battle of Spirit has started and we are on our way to finding out just who the most popular characters in Ninja Spirit are. No upsets so far, but this match up between Kentan and Amatsu looks like it might turn out that way. I guess the lesson learned here is that fat kids are never popular. I was talking to Dave a day ago and I mentioned that a lot of the contest entries has picked Amatsu to move on and I thought it was kind of weird. I mean you've only seen Amatsu's head in all of two panels and Kentan played a role in a couple of comics. Dave simply said that you can't really go against the guy who is supposed to be the main bad guy. I suppose so, but I believe my exact analogy was, "It's like they're picking sides in gym class and they're like hmmm... disembodied head over the fat kid!!" Ah well... this is why we have the contest right? I will concede though that yes, Amatsu will be super bad ass. J Gods of Evil lend themselves to be.

So hey, have fun with the Battle of Spirit and I'll see you on Monday when we find out the measure of the guy known as Thomas Alva Brisket!!

River is loved.

Vote for Ninja Spirit!!
