"Four Day Weekend" Thursday - May 13th, 2004 I kinda like this waking up early to finish up the strip thing. Much better than staying up till 4 or 5 in the morning. Unfortunately the bad thing is that I can't wake up early enough to get the comic up before 6 (which is if I do have work the next day IS the deadline. If the comic ever took longer than that then it would be delayed.) So knock on wood and all that jazz. Oh and a Happy Belated to Sei Tin on the NS forums! I know I sent you a birthday, but I figure I'll give you some props on the main page. Hope you didn't party too hard. The Kelly and I watched one of the most retarded shows last night on TV. It was called the Mentalist and it was about some guy who went around doing feats of psychic prowess. First off, the name of the show totally sucks monkey SIV. The Mentalist? Is he mental? The Kelly thought the show was going to be about some guy doing metal work and welding. She's crazy, but I digress.
Anyway, secondly, the show was totally lame. I mean sure this guy could've been doing the psychic things on his show, but with the exception of riding the scooter through NYC blindfolded, the rest of it was like one of stories someone tells you, but in the end he goes "you had to be there I guess." See most magic is visual so when you watch it on TV it's pretty cool to watch. Watching some guy telling people what they are thinking and guessing what they will do is flat out boring as hell. I don't know if it was the night of messed up TV, but afterwards we watched the VH1 special on the 50 Most Awesomely Bad songs ever. Now I tried my best to make heads or tails of how they put this list together. I mean you have some great songs on there!! So my first thought was like okay these are songs that are popular, but either make no sense or are lyrically inane. However Michael Bolton, Bobby &Whitney, and JC Chasez making the list with their totally unknown and truly horrendous songs threw that theory out the door. Was it a list of awesome songs and then some bad songs? I just didn't get it. And another thing... was Hal Sparks unavailable for filming? Donal Logue too busy with Grounded For Life? The people they had talking about the songs on the list was a veritable list of never was no names, has beens, or just flat out total wannabes like Matt Pinfield. Didn't MTV lose him and then tried to have a contest on finding him? Only no one wanted to find him so everyone just forgot about the contest and MTV just fired him instead? The commentary was atrocious. Almost everything Matt Pinfield said bordered on ignorant. I assume he knows something about music, but he was sacrificing his integrity to try and be funny or something close to it. He failed and just ended up looking like an ignorant jackass. My point being these are the types of people they got to chime in on this totally asinine list. Besides any list that Blender magazine throws together just has to be right. Right? Okay on to the comic, I am definitely a lot more happy with the art in today's strip. The first panel is pretty weak, but I think I shook off the rust after that and got down some pretty good panels. I like the way Key Lime turned out in P5. Even the last panel came out okay. I was kinda worried about it because I knew what I wanted in my mind, but getting that into the computer and look decent was another story completely. So after some trial and error I got something close to what I wads imagining and got it to look somewhat good. You'll all have to let me know. And so we return to the action after a short interlude. As Joe mentions, the fight has definitely kicked into the next gear and both Yuki and Tom are going to be fighting all out now. Yuki utilizes his Super Magically Jacked Speed to not only dodge Tom's attack again, but to unleash a new version of his Engetsuzan technique. The Engetsu Arashi is simply Yuki uncorking about ten or so regular Engetsuzan's in the span it normally takes him to throw one. The result speaks for itself. Damn that Yuki sure is looking pretty cool at this point. It's almost like Tom's the good guy and he has to get beat down in order to stand back up and defeat the bad guy. So next week, we'll get to see if that was enough for Yuki to take down Tom or if Tom was even hurt at all. So be sure to be here on Monday to find that out as well as see someone have second thoughts!! Who? I don't know... I'm keepin' it real biotch!!
