"The Kelly freaks out about the Godsend" Sunday - May 2nd, 2004 This weekend The Kelly and I went to go see Godsend. It was a pretty decent movie. The whole genetic science aspect of it seemed as iffy as the science behind Jurassic Park. It sounds good, but if you pick at it a bit, the gilding peels right off. I'm one of those people willing to suspend some reality when I go to see movie, so I was still able to look past that and focus on the entertainment point of it. It had its creepy moments and the points where it makes you jump. They cast the kid perfectly. Rebecca Romijn did okay for herself and you I didn't even notice it was her. Greg Kinear was okay as well. He seems iffy in a few scenes, but doesn't take away anything from the table. I don't know about DeNiro though... It was pretty much subdued DeNiro playing a crazy DeNiro character. I'll have to see it again to decide on whether he did a good job or not. The Kelly won't watch it again though. She was thoroughly freaked out about the movie. Not like a scared shiteless type of freaked out though. She likened her feelings after watching the movie to that of watching the sad scenes in Titanic. Less sad, but... haunting is the word I'm looking for. She was haunted by the plot and images of the movie. Right now I'm listening to four new songs; D12's "My Band", Avril's "Don't Tell Me", Sugarcult's "Memory", and NFG's "All Downhill From Here". I don't know if any of those are your bag of tea, but I like them lots. My favorite out of those probably has to be the New Found Glory song. I know they're pretty bad live and they need someone other than Jordan singing, but their recorded stuff always sounds great. The new single is no exception as it follows NFG's favored fast verse, slow sing-a-long chorus format. Somehow it never gets old to me and I'm sure I'll get the album when it comes out. Now how about we talk about NS? I don't have much to say about the art in this one. We get the standard pissed-off Tom face and surprised/shocked Joe face. The Seppu Jishin Dan came out decent in it's non-animated gif form. For those of you who don't remember, the technique has Tom spin around and actually throw his huge hammer at his opponent. Not only does the hammer deal damage from the heavy impact, but it also releases Spirit created vibrations into the opponent's body causing internal damage. The last panel gave me the most trouble, but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. But hey the fight gets started and this time Yuki isn't the one who starts off the action. Tom's already pissed off and you can imagine why since he sees himself as the one rightfully seeking revenge. And so now Yuki gets to face the technique that was able to take down Dave with one hit. On top of that it looks like he won't be able to use the Hangetsu Junsai!! Is this fight over before it really had a chance to begin? Will someone help Yuki or does he really have a plan? Be sure to check out Thursday's comic to find out!! PS- Thanks everyone for voting as always. Last month you guys moved me into the 80's!! I'm happy to just be in the top 100 so thanks a million guys and girls. Remember that with the new month comes another reset so be sure to vote when you can to get us back to where we had been!!
