"Battle of Spirit" Wednesday - March 17th, 2004

Before I go into anything too serious I'd like to list my current ten songs from my play list.

BOOYAKA!!! I can admit to having Ricky Martin mp3's. I have much worse. Heh... Actually I really like this list. You get a little bit of everything. The only song I don't really like is The Strokes one. It's actually The Kelly's mp3. Redman's cameo in Original Prankster practically makes that song. The Toby Keith song isn't really his best, but it's decent. I do love the Pumpkins of course and probably my second favorite song off this list is the Sugarcult song. It's a fun song!!

Now on to more pressing news, most of you should have seen that new button graphic for the "Battle of Spirit". In the spirit of March Madness, Ninja Spirit will be holding a popularity tournament to figure out which character will emerge as the most popular. Every character that has been in Ninja Spirit and has a name (besides Miss Cheerleader) has been placed in the tournament and seeded according to how big a part their have played in the comic so far. Starting Tuesday next week we will have an open voting session between two characters. Everyone and anyone can vote, but they can only vote once. Forum members can easily vote in the NS forum poll I will set up. All others can send in an e-mail to river@ninja-spirit.com to vote. Whichever character gets more votes will have won the battle. The winner advances and the loser goes home.

You can click on the above button to view the special page that has been set up specifically for the "Battle of Spirit". You can view the bracket or download a printable one. The Battle page also contains mini profiles for each character in the tournament just in case you might need a little refresher course on just who some of these people are.

Now this is all fun and stuff, but there's gotta be more to it than this right? Of course there is. The "Battle of Spirit" is also directly linked to the Special Spirit 100 contest. All those who have registered may now fill out a bracket via the NS forums or e-mail. Those who signed up via e-mail will get a nice form in which they can cut and paste into an e-mail. You can then fill out who you think the winners will be and send it right back to me at river@ninja-spirit.com. I have also posted the form in the NS forums and anyone who is registered on the forum can simply cut and paste the form into a Private Message and send it to River. I will be sure to include the Private Message link in the entry form post.

The point system is explained at the scoreboard section of the "Battle of Spirit" page. Whoever gains the most points wins the contest and the Special Limited Edition Spirit 100 Poster!!!! (Image to come soon) The first tiebreaker will be a correct guess on who the "Champion" will be. The second tiebreaker will be whoever got the most correct guesses. If there is still a tie we will then go into a sudden death NS trivia game.

Oh and if you haven't registered for the contest, you can still do so up till 11 PM Tuesday night EST. It's free and you get a great chance to get your hands on free NS merchandise that no one will EVER have besides you. So take the challenge and enter into the contest, fill out a bracket, and vote for your favorites to win!!!

Anyway enough on the fun contest stuff, let's talk about the comic!!! Another strip in which I don't have any major gripes. My only minor one is with P6. Joe's teeth didn't come out right when the image was resized... The last panel was a fun one to make though. Not only do you get to see Dave in his hospital get up, but you also see the cool crazy effects contained within.

Speaking of which... JUST WHO IS THE GUY WITH THE BURNING HAND?!!! That Dave can never cut a break can he? I mean sure he brought that ass kicking from Tom upon himself, but how are ya gonna do a guy like that when he's injured in a hospital bed? Will Joe or Tenko figure out what's going on just a few feet from where they stand? Anyone else catch the irony of Tenko's statement in P4?

Well just when you thought we were going to head into a training montage, you get thrown this little curve. Just who is this mysterious man? Was he sent by Tom? Or Kelly? Or maybe even Amatsu? Will someone arrive to save Dave in time? Who are you picking to win between Joe and Dean Brandes? I would go for Dean Brandes. Heh.... Anyway I'll see you all next week when Dave's fate will be determined!!
