"Movies, Movies" Wednesday - February 25th, 2004

Seems like there are a bunch of decent movies coming out in the theaters. Not blockbusters like Return of the King, but ones that just look interesting. We have Twisted, Starsky and Hutch, Hidalgo, Secret Window, Dawn of the Dead, and Taking Lives. I'd go watch any of these movies pretty much. Though because of my penchant for horror movies, I'll probably go see Dawn of the Dead. I liked the original and I know the remake will suck ass, but I have to see it regardless. It's a zombie movie.

Other than that I'd probably rate Taking Lives and Starsky & Hutch as my next two movies to go see simply because of who's in each. In Taking we have Kiefer "Jack Bauer" Sutherland. As for Starsky, I have faith that Stiller and Wilson can recreate the hilarity they formed when they were in Zoolander, a movie that I SO wish I saw instead of the Musketeer. My life would be so much better in so many ways.

I want to think Secret Window will be good. It's got Johnny "Captain jack Sparrow" Depp in it. However it's also based off a Stephen King story and last time I checked we haven't time warped back tot he 80's. A time when people were able to actually make a decent movie out of a King book. I'm afraid of another Dreamcatcher fiasco.

Comic. comic...

I have to say that I'm very happy with the way this one turned out. P8 and P9 came out so great that I think they have taken over as my favorite panels in the entire comic. Dave's expression was perfect for what I wanted. I hope the comic is a bit easier to see for everyone who has a darker lit monitor. I purposely turned down the brightness on my monitor so I could better gauge if the comic was coming out too dark.

DAYUM!!!! Why's Tom gotta be a hater and break Dave's arm like that? Actually the events for this turn of events was based off real life events. The real Dave did break his arm in a crazy sequence of events that involved skates, hockey, and my fat ass brother. He ended up breaking it again like a week later.  There were no hammer wielding football players though.

We do finally get to see the powers of the Earthshaker or the "Shintendouchi" as it would be called back in the day. You can see why Tom uses the translated name. As stated the Earthshaker converts a users Spirit to vibrations when the hammer makes contact with it's intended target. The result is not only external bludgeoning damage, but additional damage done to the more delicate and internal organs.

Tom's definitely laid the smack down on Dave and it looks like it's going to be the end for Dave next comic. Unless someone comes to save him!!! Oh and before I forget AGAIN, Buzzcomix has started a Reader account service in which you can sign up for a BcX account without a comic. You can then set up the comics you like as your personal favorites. A number appears next to a white plus in the comic's standings which corresponds to the number of people that have listed that comic as their favorite. So if any of your interested in doing that, by all means go for it.

Till next week!!
