"All About the Overtime" Sunday - January 11th, 2004 This is going to be a crazy week at work. The students come back from winter break and the store should be mad crowded. Overtime to be worked, but at least the extra pay will be most welcome. I remember going back to school after winter break. It was always kinda cool because you already had things settled when it came to living quarters. The only thing that differed were your classes. I don't know if this is the same with anyone else, but my freshman year at college was so unlike every other year I spent there it's unreal. I lived on the "freshman" side of campus and lived with people of which I only saw one or two ever again. Even fraternity life was different in that first year. Make no doubts about it, pledging is PURE HELL. Don't let Sorority/Fraternity Life Pledge Lite fool you. That MTV crap was pretty weak shit and this is coming from someone who's pledging period was considered to be on the tame side. I sure hope to hell they edited those shows to shit. I will say this about pledging though, there were some things I'll remember for the rest of my life. Not really things about pledging, but rather just moments of hanging out with friends. Like the time my pledge brother Jake and I finished cleaning the house at 5 in the morning and then decided that nothing would satisfy our hunger like baked beans. So off we trudged for half an hour to go to the 24 hour supermarket. We ended up eating a spoonful of beans each before passing out, but that was a damn fun time. It's amazing how much stuff you go through while you're at college. Nothing that has remotely any connection to real life whatsoever, but meaningful stuff nonetheless. I liked working on today's comic. Everything came out pretty decent and I ended up scrapping the one panel that came out sub par because it didn't really serve any purpose. In fact, the dialogue was pushed back into P2 and P3 and it even looks better that way. And of course I love the way P5 came out. I actually had to redraw Julienne because she was in the total wrong perspective compared to Tom. Still not perfect, but infinitely better then it was. It looks like Yuki had finally taken Joe's advice to heart and steeled up his nerve enough to actually tell Key Lime how he really feels. I'm sure most people would be wondering what Yuki's problem is in the first place. Seems like a rather easy thing to do and I'm pretty sure in this day and age I can do it with little problem. The problem is that this is a freshman in high school who isn't as sure and confident to explain things. I think it definitely shows an immaturity on Yuki's part. However, while it is a negative trait, I like that it doesn't try and gloss over the drama of high school life by having Yuki act a lot more mature and wider then his years would dictate. Will he have enough time to explain himself with Tom knocking on the door to the dance? Speaking of which, Tom sure isn't beating around the bush like Lord Hawk did is he? Just how does Tom plan on walking into a dance with something that obviously looks like some sort of weapon? Where is Kelly? You'll just have to wait and see!!
