"Lovin You is like loving the dead" Wednesday - November 19th, 2003 Sometimes inspiration comes from weird places. As I was putting the finishing touches on Spirit 70, I happened to be listening to my playlist and Type O Negative's Black Number 1 came on. If you don't know who Type O is then you are really missing out. It's a little out there for most people, but I think its still at a point where people who aren't necessarily fans of the genre can listen to their stuff. Anyway I'm getting off track... I was listening to Type O and of course the title to this post keeps repeating throughout the song. Something about it clicked in my head and I found a good new loop to throw into the story. I had planned on doing things a different way, but I like what I have come up with thanks to those crazy guys in Type O. I don't really have much to report. 24 kicks ass. Mo Joe Schmo is good, but I think it woulda been better had they tossed in more commentary during the show like they do on the audio commentary any decent DVD should have. I suppose they do it like they do for people who never watched the show, but I've seen every show at least three or four times. I guess they are finally coming out with the Saint Seiya toys here in the states. Rob informed me of such news earlier today. I would be super psyched, but unfortunately they are replacing the die cast metal armor with completely plastic pieces. Not cool. I mean it's not cool that it's called Knights of the Zodiac and the theme song makes me want to eviscerate myself with a rubber spatula. I mean how do we go from having the Hades Chapter being made in Japan to having the farce we have over here? I'm not a fan of dubbing to begin with, but quality dubbing as evidenced by Spirited Away and Witch Hunter Robin have softened my once diamond hard resolve about the issue. However watching an episode of "Knights of the Zodiac" on the Cartoon Channel would have forced the Pope to drop trough and tea bag whoever was responsible for the translation work. It barely matches the original context and the voice acting is horrendous. I know whoever was responsible for almost destroying the first chapter of Saint Seiya in Japan is already dead and buried (steel saints anyone?). The least I could ask for is to have whoever was responsible for the American version to be tortured mercilessly. I will not get more upset about this. Random thought: You know what the worst game ever was? Riddle of the Sphinx for Atari 2600. The game had absolutely NO POINT. You walked from the bottom of the screen to the top as the scenery scrolled by. there would be things that shot at you, but we're talking you could go get dinner and come back and still have time to dodge. This would continue for ten minutes or so and then you'd reach the sphinx and then you would inexplicably die and the game would restart from the very beginning. George and I share horror stories of trying to find some point to this insipid game, but alas we never found one. Anyway after having such an impressive opening, it's time to come back to Earth with the reappearance of Yuki. As shrewd observers may notice... you might have seen something similar to Panels 1 and 2 somewhere before. Sorta sums up how much the art has changed from 70 strips ago... I don't have a problem with the art this time around. Though the changes are slight I did alter Yuki's hair a bit. It's definitely not as huge as it used to be. Plus you get to see Yuki dressed in two different things besides his Intermilan jersey! (Which is now hanging on his wall. Still a little torn and a tad stained, but you don't just throw away Inter jerseys) Although this strip does set up the general setting of the Chapter though as Homecoming has finally come to Kawasaki High. There will be the football game and more importantly, to Yuki at the very least, the dance. Will Yuki have the courage to finally ask Kelly out? Will he even make it to the game? You'll just have to wait and find out.
