"Read or Die" Wednesday - October 15th, 2003 In case you were wondering, Rob is trying to get me to start missing deadlines by letting me borrow even more anime. I had mentioned in my earlier post that he had let me watch Witch Hunter Robin. I stand by my initial review and will in fact direct you to one of the cooler "official sites" on the web. Once on the site you can play a mini game as an NTSJ agent and be a part of the gang. A very cool use of Flash and worth a look see. However, I will also direct you to another anime series and the one which is the title for this post. Read or Die may have one of the most stupid names ever for an anime and is released by the scourge of a distributor, Manga, but it is a very good watch. The character designs are in the same vein as You're Under Arrest and Ah! My Goddess. The story was excellent and everything moved at a good pace. Like WH Robin, it's about a secret government agency. Unlike WH Robin it is a lot more light in tone. I enjoyed it and I recommend it. The Kelly came up with a pretty good idea. She suggested that I change the message that New Skool Regulata Kelly says in the picture that pops up after you vote for NS at Buzzcomix. I decided to take her up on that offer and will try to come up with something at least different for each day. Sorta like the effort you guys take each day by voting. As has been mentioned in the forums, there is to be a new wallpaper up in the bonus section, along with a few other goodies. Check out the forums to see what's what. Conversely you can wait till probably after this weekend to see if I can get to it and put them up in the Bonus section. As for the comic I have to say that I liked the way it came out. I was hoping for a little bit better, but I'm always my worst critic it seems. I really like the way P5 and P4 look and it's sorta too bad you guys can't see the full high res versions cause you lose a bit of the detail in the comic version. Oh well. Oh yeah and in case you were wondering I did do a slight retooling of Yuki's Hyourinken. It always seemed to be a bit plain and I decided that on close ups to at least put in the little details off the sword a bit better. That Yuki can sure throw together a plan last minute can't he? Don't count out Lord Hawk though cause I'm sure he isn't going to go down that easy. As was mentioned, the end is coming soon and not the way you might expect it either. So enjoy the weekend and I'll see you back for Sunday.
