"Best use of urine in a movie" Wednesday - September 17th, 2003

For those not familiar with Shanghai Noon, the title for this week's comic comes from one of the best scenes in that particular movie. I'm a huge fan of Jackie Chan and I feel that while his martial prowess and insane need to do his own stunts make him legendary, what really makes him stand out to me is his charisma and comedic talent. Which is why I think he should continue with making action comedies like the Shanghai and Rush Hour series. Just keep pairing him up with wise ass funny guys and you have an unbeatable comedic combination the equivalent of Rum and Pineapple Juice. I think to break up the monotony, Jackie should team up with Keanu Reaves next. Jackie is a devoted cop who gets in the way of undercover agent Keanu. It'll be Jackie kicking the living hell out of a hundred rogue agents in real time while Keanu can only stand by with the eyebrow furrowed face and say "woah". It could almost be like one of those old silent movies.

Been listening to a lot of internet radio recently. New station of the moment is Japan-A-Radio. Brings me sweet ass J Pop and anime at the same time. Of course this all means that I'm getting back into anime all of a sudden. I want to see Gundam Seed and Fooly Cooly. Both look kick ass.

Anyway I don't have much of anything else to mention.

Let's move on to Spirit 52 shall we?

Back to four panels for the first time in a couple of weeks I think. I can't complain with the way anything turned out in this comic. It didn't even take me forever and a day to come up with Kelly's flying in to attack pose. This comic also marks the beginning of my use of a blue lead for drawing. I didn't know if it would work or not, but I scanned the comic in without erasing at all and I have to say that the rough drawing under the ink did not show up at all. Good times. This effectively cuts out a stage in the process. Very good times.

Kelly seems rather brave doesn't she?

All I can say is that things will begin happening all at once as we head into the fight's conclusion. What exactly is Kelly's plan? I doubt it'll be much better than Yuki's run-right-into-unknown-danger-on-a-banana-bicycle plan, but you never know right?

River is ready for bed.
