"I'll take The-rapist for 200 Alex" Wednesday - July 30th, 2003

Weeks coming and going. After a great weekend, it's all about trying to stay afloat during the week. There hasn't really been much going on and I think right now it's simply all about the wait till Madden 2004 comes out. I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend with nothing really to do.

I watched The Rock again tonight since it was TNT or some other channel like it. I love that movie.

Let me tell you what a bitch Spirit 40 was. I could not get the script out until earlier today. I tried all week, but couldn't get one thing in my head. I'm still not too happy with the final product, but it's better then whatever I was thinking of earlier in the week. To add further chaos into the mix, I decided that this would be the week to try drawing on vellum. It had been mentioned before by Rob at work that someone had been using vellum for clean line art. Like most web cartoonist, I believe that anything that makes cleaner line art has to be worth trying.

Well let me tell you that it came out clean, but my pens were just not having a fun time with the whole experience. Had to settle for gel pens, but dry quickly they did not. So instead of having to smooth out the line art, I spent the extra time cleaning up my line art from all the smudges and weird globs of ink that occurred.

Definitely going back to Bristol unless I can come up with a better solution for the whole vellum thing.

Anyway, the art itself came out decent with Panel 3 being my fave of the week. I think this more or less advances the plot towards the inevitable showdown between Lord hawk and Yuki. I definitely could've milked the banana bike for more jokes, but then there'd be no bounce or play. Regardless as we head into the 6th month as well as the milestone 50th strip, you can be sure the action is really going to kick up a notch.

What about Joe you ask? Is he really dead? It seems like it?

Well, he does seem dead, but then again maybe it's because he hasn't eaten in hours. Really, I just wanted to keep the suspense on. Maybe build up a little buzz for the next few strips. I'd hold a little poll to decide whether or not he lives or dies, but I can only assume that most will pick him to die. So you'll just have to wait and see what's to become of our Joey Lockhart.

River is very pissed at his pens.
