"Weekend o' Eatin" Sunday - July 27th, 2003

This weekend was pretty kick ass. Joe, Jay, Colum, and Dave came up to visit Syracuse and a good time was had by all. They arrived late on Friday night. On Saturday, we ate lunch at Cracker Barrel. Afterwards we went to Skaneateles to check out the rich folk on the lake. There was a boat show going on and that was kind of cool. Then that night, Tom came up from Albany and we all went to Rochester to partake in the feast that is Nick Tahoe's. It was a momentous occasion as Tom and myself are share a vast amount of legends of stories about the place and to have us in there at the same time with two Tahoe virgins leads to a lot of good times.

Today we ended up eating at Dinosaur BBQ for lunch and that is always a good time as well. Everyone enjoyed the food and I even got to try the wings for the first time ever and they were probably the best wings I have ever had bar none. We ended up at Carousel Mall or a little while and then it was time for everyone to leave.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and if I can, I might try and post some pics I took from this weekend up when I have the chance. All in all it was a fun weekend. Everyone has just left and I will shortly be on my way to The Kelly's house. I will post again when I come back and finish the comic.

River is flying high.

"Now take a look at that" Sunday - July 27th, 2003

Spirit 39 is up and we are now in the final week of month 5. I wish I could pick up the pace of updating or something, but unfortunately if I do that, I'm positive I will start missing updates and then it'll be even worse for people will be missing comics and the updates will become sporadic. So we'll just keep the Monday and Thursday update schedule.

Spirit 39 was almost something else entirely. However upon drawing the first panel, I decided to save the idea for something else and come up with something completely different. Of course I decide to do this on the weekend my friends come up so I had to pretty much do it all today under some pretty intense situations. Fortunately, I wrote the script out Friday during lunch. Unfortunately, I ended up leaving the script at The Kelly's house tonight.

I think what you see is a close approximation of what I had down. In fact, I think it might be even better because it's a little more concise and less wordy then I originally had it.

Luckily, the art itself came out rather easily for this one and I was rather pleased with the results. Not up to my vision, but decent enough for me not to be embarrassed by it. I'm doing my best to keep the background light simulate real time so it should be rapidly getting darker in the strips to come. I'm not sure how well it'll work, so bear with me.

As for the story, I guess this might come as a shock seeing as how Joe is now mortally wounded and all. Or is he? I'm sure most of you don't think he is just as I am sure some of you simply wish he was. Anyway I was originally going to dot he whole Yuki gets there in time blah blah blah, but then I decided to just make it so he doesn't make it. Makes for more compelling story and you'd be surprised at how well it fits.

Stay tuned to see Joe's fate!!

River is very contemplative about life.
