| Saturday - March 22, 2003 No bounce, no play. I will not go into how much I thought Dreamcatcher let me down on almost every level. The book itself was one of the best Stephen King books I've read in a long time. It wasn't so much horror as it was a psychological thriller adventure type of deal. The movie turned into a mish mashed sci-fi jaunt that changed some things around to the point where some of the thing that happen just don't make any sense. I don't know. Maybe it's because I read the book. Anyone who sees this movie, but didn't read the book let me know what you thought. On the other hand I did get to go to Tahoe's last night to see my friend Kris from college. He's like a real artist creating things that just make you wonder how someone could think to do something like that. Anyway, he's working on his masters thesis which will include a graphic novel. If he ever puts it online, everyone who reads this, should go see his stuff. The Promise Land was great as always. Anyone who goes through Rochester, NY owes it to themselves to try a Garbage Plate at Nick Tahoe Hots. Oh sure there are a lot of other imitators out there with their Hot Plates and their Trash Plates, but who's on the officially licensed Rochester Monopoly board? That's right. Tahoe's. When I went to college I went to Tahoe's at least 3 times a week, and that's like a half an hour drive each way. So like I said if you are in Rochester... Garbage Plate from Nick Tahoe's. I'd describe what it is, but I'll save that for a future post. On to Spirit Three. I'm not sure if the joke gets pulled off quite so well in this one. Seems to be a running theme through my strips so far... I think it's sorta funny though. One of the first rewrites of the story though cause in the original, Yuki was like "What the hell is this?!". In the final version he stays true to his idealistic fun loving ways. I do like the glowing effect of the sword though. Tenko too. About Tenko... fuck me freddy if the damn thing looks too much like a cat. I know how to draw cats, but dogs and foxes? Went out when I stopped drawing Dragon Ball style comics. (You gotta love how Akira Toriyama sticks in these half animal people in his comics like they are just normal every day people.) I think the new design looks more foxish. You can see the new design on Tenko's info page in the Cast Section. Anyway that's it for now. Peace.
